The preppy trend has been taking the runway and fast fashion industry by storm. A blast from the past, first introduced in the early 1800’s as a garment made for weight loss and sweating. However, it wasn’t until the 1930’s that they were a common staple amongst menswear.
Today, it’s one of the most sought out items In womenswear! Made in various fabrics, textures and colors, the sweater vest, you can sport this season.
Although, everyone’s styling varies. I found a few looks to work for me. So, here are a few styling options to help you style your sweater vest this season.
Look 1
This is a common styling option I’ve seen in streetwear. I styled my sweater vest over my shirt dress and paired it with my leather pants and boots. To add a bit of drama I added a fedora to pull the look together.
Look 2
Preppy trends are a common trend this season and are perfect for sweater vests. I paired it with my checkered skirt and layered it under a white turtleneck neck. To accessorize I would add a chain link and some earrings.
Look 3
A more boujiee look for that next Instagram pic. I paired it with a dress shirt and my favorite skort. I gave it that extra edge with some boots. You can layer the look instead with some leather pants for those chilly nights!
