Spring is officially here and I am ready for all the warm temperatures ahead. However, we have been experiencing the up and down temperatures in Vancouver, WA that are pretty common this time of year. Which, in my opinion, make it an awkward time of year to get dressed with the rainy weather.
If you’re like me you’ll be keeping some lightweight winter clothing close by and use them with your spring staples. You don’t need to revamp your whole closet, but adding a few pieces from this season may help add a little pop of color or modernization to your essentials.
Transitioning doesn’t have to be complicated or hard, so let’s talk winter-spring outfit tips and how to welcome those lightweight layers into the new season!
1. Incorporate Color
Spring is all about lighter hues, such as blush, lavender, and Bahamas blues. However, even bold colors, such as scarlet red, sorbet pink, and forest green are great choices to incorporate with your winter clothing. A dash of color will spruce up your winter essentials in no time!
2. Mix & Match
Mixing and matching is the golden rule to creating a masterpiece or creating a look you never want to wear again. Mixing and matching is a trial and error basis and experimenting with colors, fabrics, and accessories is what it’s all about. Grab a piece of clothing you want to wear and start mixing and matching with your winter essentials. Do you want to pair your winter sweater with some spring essentials? Pair it with your white jeans and a camel trench coat for a balanced look.
3. Light Layering
Lightly layering is also what transitioning your wardrobe is all about. From winter to spring your light layers should include a light sweater, knits, cardigans, and a few of your favorite pieces. Heavy, chunky, and puffy clothing is perfect for the winter, but should be laid to rest during the spring/summertime. Think light, flowy, and airy in the spring time, dresses, tops, and coats are great go-to pieces for the season.
4. Trench Coat
The ultimate outwear for the transitional season, trench coats. A classic chic piece that never goes out of style and perfect for those rainy days! It’s a perfect layer look to wear over your light winter looks and look chic while wearing it!
5. Shoes
Your shoe game should also include some lightweight shoes to accompany your looks. Instead of chunky boots, trade in your boots for some sandals or sneakers. Your snow boots shouldn’t be the only thing seen! If you’re wanting to incorporate a boot, opt for a bootie or knee high boot!
That’s all for now! I hope these tips have given you a starting point to consider while putting your transitional looks together! Let me know in the comments what other tips you guys have for winter-spring transitional outfits.
