Spring has finally sprung and if you get all the seasons as we do then you know a much-needed vacation is needed from the winter blues! I am here for all the sunny glory coming our way and the fashion to accompany it!
This year we’ve noted a blast from the past! Truly, the industry from time to time recycles its fashion favorites and resurfaces them in modernity. We can thank Genz Z for this season’s favorites as we’ve seen some 80s influence emerge in fashion and pop culture!
If you’re itching for some trendy finds! Let me take you through some key trends inspired by fashion through the past!
- Skinny Jeans
It’s official…the skinny jeans are back and sharing the spotlight with the wide-length jeans trend! Although, I personally never opted out of the skinny jean trend and remained true to the fit throughout the years. It’s a great item and can easily be styled with an oversized sweater or sneakers for a casual day out.
2. Converse
With the rise of athleisure and its evolution over the years, we have seen the blend of comfort and style influence our everyday dress. It’s no different in accessories as we see, the return of Converse!
From my late middle school to early high school memories, the Converse sneaker was all the craze! Believe it or not, I still have the same pair I grew up with, and in good condition; a new high-top pair is long overdue, but if your pair is still well in condition, you can replace your day-to-day trainers with an oldie, but goodie Converse sneaker!
3. Peep Toe Heels
I know you read that right! Open-toed heels are no new trend, but these may look a little different to our modern wear as they take their original form from the 80-90’s era. A summer heel I can’t wait to dig through my mom’s closet for!
4. Graphic Tees
Who knew we would see this trend again? The last time it was this popular was during the mid-2000s, with shows like Jersey Shore influencing streetwear. Today, we can spot this trend within athleisure and streetwear but with a minimalistic twist. You can consider this trend the easiest and comfiest choice to adopt’ you can easily style it with a blazer and chunky sneakers.
5. Power Suits
The power dynamics in fashion have merged the lines between men’s and women’s fashion, and I am here for it! The power suit is no new trend but a major one that has continued to re-emerge throughout the past decades as oversized clothing has become the norm. Let this be your sign to snag yourself a matching suit!
6. White Tank Top
The white tank is back and taking center stage! Whether in a racerback version or a simpler muscle t-shirt version, you can’t go wrong with this trend! It’s a great addition to your capsule collection and; worn in many ways! A must-do for the summer if you ask me!
I love a good resurfacing trend like the next gal, and I hope you do, too. It’s a good reminder for all of us that fashion can recycle throughout the years, so if this taught you anything, storing your clothes can be a potential solution to look trendy without breaking the bank!
